i like plants
sunbaking
all in a day's work ... i mean it may look like doing nothing much ... but i have been chasing birds away, barking at noises, drinking water, eating grass, knocking plant pots over on occasion, and sleeping in the day is important because i've got to be ready to play when everybody comes home ...
cool!
summer is hotting up and a boy needs some protection ... but you know the strange thing about wearing things is that the boys seem to enjoy it the most, and make all those strange human noises with their mouths, wave their arms around, get out that little box that whirs and flashes and then when that's all over i get lots more hugs and pats and sometimes treats ... i like treats!
the furniture
well, it doesn't get much use when the humans are all away during the day, and there's isn't much for me to do except sleep and wait for everybody to come home ...

i was just fricking lying on the couch and the humans come running in and dress me up ... but the humans get really loud and emotional sometimes when they watch other humans on that big box thing in the corner - not just any ole humans, but those ones wearing red&white and kicking a ball around a park without any trees (or dogs for that matter) ... i can remember them being really, really excited and happy about the red&white humans but more recently (around the end of winter last year) they were excited for weeks and then really morose and sullen ... humans are strange animals indeed ...
my human
this is the guy that takes me for walks and gives me food and lets me sleep on his bed, but i wish he'd stop kissing me all the time - and he seems to hang out with a lot of other men and sometimes i can smell Other Dogs on him but i haven't made a big deal out of it yet and it doesn't happen much (but if he reads this, be warned .. you're on notice, buddy)

i do have a thing for chewing up furry toys ...
my other favourite human
this is the other guy i share my house with ... and he's my best friend in the upright 2-legged world .. he plays with me lots and we have tugs-of-war and i always win (well, i would if he would stop playing with my feet during the game - i HATE that) ... and i can sleep on his bed sometimes when he's in it and other times when he's away from home ...and one of my favourite things is sneaking into his room when he's not around and stealing his shoes and taking pillows off his bed and then hiding them elsewhere in the house (go on, try it at your house .. it's fun) ... and bestest of all, he lets me use him like a pillow when he's lazing around, and he's always up for a good tummy scratch and big hugs whenver i want them ... and he looks after me when dad goes away to work (whatever that means) ... and, frankly, i deserve the attention!
sticks
well, you see my human keeps throwing sticks, and i run after them and get them ... but what comes next?? and why does he keep throwing them? and why does he want me to give them back to him? he's only going to throw the fricking things again ... does he think i'm stupid? ... humans are crazy animals!
... hmm, more freaking sticks ... the humans just keep throwing them out there ...
my buddy
this is my pal, vaylem ... he thinks he can beat me in a tug-of war contest! bring it on ... just because he can outrun me chasing sticks and balls, doesn't mean he can beat me in a basic pulling contest ... this morning we ran around Moore Park together, chasing sticks, getting hot, drinking lots of water and generally having fun together ... i love hanging out with him!
leisure time
i was at the moonlight cinema the other night (i like going with dad) ... but it wasn't my favourite film ... it was the latest Christopher Guest film 'For Your Consideration' ... now, I may be biased (just a little) but it wasn't a patch on Best In Show ... now there was a film that made me sit up ... there's something really dorky about those show breeds poncing around & getting their fur done & their nails & getting poked & prodded & judged ... nah, give me a rug & some snacks & a couple of trees nearby & i'm happy just kicking back watching a movie ...though it is very hard to keep still, & dad gets grumpy with me sometimes for wanting to dig holes next to where other people are sitting & for getting agitated with those damn bats flapping around in the trees above us (i really really want to bark at them but i know that dad would lose it with me) ... and i'm a doggie, so i get restless & fidget a lot ... and i can always find a stick or 2 lying around to start chewing ...
weekends away ...
this is Lake Macquarie north of Sydney, where dad and I go to visit Grandma - she's older & frailer so I have to more careful around her, but she's got a big yard to run around & chase the birds away ... & then I get to run down by the lake & swim which is great fun ... but look out for the oyster shells - they can cut your pads badly ...
activist dog
sometimes i get to go with my dad to protest marches ... i don't like walking in the crowds through the city streets much, but hanging out at pickets is fun .. and i usually get my photo taken (of course) ...anyway, this one was a protest picket outside the ABC ... that's where dad works, and management there keep trying to reduce his working conditions and limit his salary, so that's worth protesting ... that, and the chance to hang out with him in the sun, and not be left at home ...
camouflage
i have realised that if i lay really, really still on the stairs, which are carpeted, that i can disappear - i love the feeling of invisibility, but it's a bit annoying when the humans tread on you as they run up or down the stairs ... i still have to perfect this little trick ...
